Dontations

To encourage wider participation in recycling, we offer the Cash for Trash program to non-profit organizations in the community. To get involved, simply call or email us and request the simple form to enroll in the program. Once you have filled out the form we will add you to the group of approved non-profits. You in turn ask your members to collect and bring their newspaper, aluminum cans and glass bottles to the center.

The sign in book and scale are conveniently located in open bay area close to the driveway. Each of the organizations are listed alphabetically and once the page is located, simply weigh the three various commodities and note the total weight in the appropriate column. We also ask that the person dropping off the material initials the sign in sheet.

Organizations get paid quarterly by our business manager. Rates vary from time to time based upon current market value.

Neighbourhood Watch

Every year we participate in America Recycles Day. Waste Management recognized our programs as the best in the nation last year. We were awarded a $3,000 grant for our outstanding efforts. One highlight was selling 1,900 Earth Machine compost bins. Each bin can prevent 650 pounds of food waste and yard debris from the landfill annually, so over 1,235,000 pounds will be used as mulch and kept out of the landfill. We also received a $10,000 grant from Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation to fund the compost bin sale. Fulton County placed 65,000 inserts in water bills to promote the compost bin sale and back yard composting. A clothing drive at Whole Foods parking lot collected 75 30-gallon bags of clothing.

Community Activities

On October 2nd, 100 volunteers from Coca-Cola Company's Quality and Technical Services Division partnered with Keep Sandy Springs North Fulton Beautiful and Keep Roswell Beautiful to clean up a 10 mile stretch of Roswell Road from I-285 to Holcomb Bridge.

"It is the vision of The Coca-Cola Company that one day the packaging of our products which refresh our consumers everyday are placed in an appropriate recycling stream. Until then, we will work with various communities to keep our roads and rivers clean and litter free," said William Bruner, Vice President of Quality and Technical Services at Coca-Cola.

Remarkably, 2,260 pounds of litter and debris were collected! Many thanks to all of the tireless volunteers.

Community News

Each year, Keep Sandy Springs North Fulton Beautiful honors its volunteers for outstanding participation and support. This year, volunteers were honored at a luncheon, held at the Ashford Club. More than 100 community and business leaders attended the recognition ceremony. Approximately, 6,494 people volunteered their time and talent to one of the many programs offered by KSSNFB.

Local Sandy Springs writer and illustrator, Jack Elrod received the Environmental Conservation Award for his outstanding 40 year contribution of his widely syndicated comic strip, Mark Trail. Jack cares deeply about the environment and has educated millions through the Mark Trail series. Focusing on imperiled species, Arbor Day, and wildlife, Jack’s informative body of work has helped to designate 16,500 acres in the Chattahoochee National Forest as the Mark Trail Wilderness area.
